Lilac Caña

Versatile classically trained vocal artist, dynamic performer, and producer of seven CD albums, soprano LILAC CAÑA inspires people with her music – whether Operatic, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Contemporary musical styles.

She graduated with honours from the University of Toronto Opera Performance Program, was a scholar with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and studied at the Glenn Gould Professional School at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music. Ms. Caña has had the pleasure of learning from several world-class coaches, including Prof. Jean MacPhail and conductor Richard Bradshaw in Toronto, Warren Jones and Evelyn Mandac in New York City, Dr. Raul Sunico in the Philippines, and now continues to perform in Canada, the United States, and the Philippines.

A unique recording artist, Lilac has produced seven CD albums and helped raise funds for several charities in North America and the Philippines. Her awards include:  the 2009 NEPMCC (National Ethnic Press & Media Council of Canada) Performing Arts-Humanities award, presented by the Hon. Lt. Governor of Ontario John Onley, in recognition of her contributions to the arts and service to the community as a musician in Canada.  She was also conferred the 2010 Pamana Ng Pilipinas Award, by Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III, for her remarkable achievements as a virtuoso performer in music, and as a generous benefactor of many causes.

Performance career highlights include: four years with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus; lead roles in opera and music theatre productions with Tapestry Music Theatre, Opera Mississauga, Brampton Lyric Opera; and concert soloist engagements in symphonic, chamber, oratorio, and contemporary music works with orchestras and choirs in Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Philippines.
